May-be I just love pound cake

When May comes around every year I take notice, I become a bit wide-eyed and gooey shooed. May always  unfolds as a month of renewal, growth, possibilities and the hope that summer is on the way. I actually take a proverbial step back, look at my surrounding and do a visual scan...ridiculous as it sounds, these things inspire me...okay, let's see

blue skies, big fluffy clouds

sun shining warmly on my face

light breeze in the air

sweet scent of flowers, trees & newly mowed lawns

birds singing   √

still light at 8:00 pm
Really I would have to say that May is the darling of all the months. That's right, look upon her now, every morning brings a new stop-me-in-my-tracks-kind-of beauty-I'm starting to get the passion that warm weather evokes in me, I have a spring in my step [tee-hee] my energy knows no bonds [I'm down to only one nap a day] and I'm feeling free, lighter some how [no winter clothing?] What is it anyway that can cause such rapturous delight-it makes me want to close my eyes and completely relish in this moment, to be in this very moment in the fullest capacity. I allow my senses to be completely enveloped, indulged, delighted, embraced. I lay at her  feet [if indeed May had feet].
Oh, my. (*I know*) May! So close your eyes...deep breath...exhale!
To celebrate May and all, I am going to share with you a secret pound cake recipe [okay, fine! it's not a secret it's from one of my favorite cook books, as you know...Bon Appétit, Y'all]. Every time I make this, I am asked for the recipe...I know, I mean I really do know, it's only a simple pound cake-yet it is the best pound cake EVER! Close-your-eyes-tilt-your-head-back-in-ecstasy-good! Yes, it really is that good-moist, buttery with a tease of vanilla bean and crispy, dark brown sugary edges that are irresistible. Plus, this recipe is sooo easy, such a breeze!

  1. Today in Southeast England, the weather is particularly un-May-like and I was feeling rather glum about it.
And then I read this post.
I read the first part twice in fact. Even with the few windy, cloudy days we're bound to have, May IS the most magical of months. Thank you for reminding me!

Who doesn't love pound cake?? It's totally my go-to cake.

    Thanks for brightening my day!

The pound cake looks yummy, but the Almond Cake looks yummier. I am fixing to make it, Monica. ;) Cheers, Connie
